Double refractory gold ore was sequentially pretreated to oxidize sulfides by thermophilic archaeon Acidianus brierleyi and then to decompose carbonaceous matters using the cell-free spent medium (CFSM)from white-rot fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium.
